November Polo Clinic

It was a great crowd for the Sunday polo clinic. Active duty and retired military folks showed up to give polo a try. They were a great group. Everyone is gung ho to continue with polo lessons.

Thanks to Tim Kelley and his horses Roxey and Bentley, Julia Arp, Sean Schmidt and photographer Bob Grant for all their help on Sunday. Couldn’t have done it without you.

The day JBLM came to Tacoma Polo Club.

It was military day on the polo field on Saturday August 27. Army veteran Michelle Gillespie, active duty soldier Sean Hardeman and his wife April came on a sunny Saturday morning to learn the basics of polo.

Thanks to former students Tina Anderson, Tim Kelley and… Continue reading

The Olympus Pony Club of Vashon came for an intro to polo clinic today. It was a blustery day but all stayed dry inside the arena. Wrapping legs, tying tails, foot mallets and finally a mounted scrimmage filled the morning.  Thanks to Sean Schmidt and Tina Anderson for their assistance. And to Sean for the photos.

Learn the basics – polo rules and strategy, mallet and ball handling, polo horsemanship.

After some ground work, you’ll mount up for hitting and passing drills wielding a 50-inch mallet. The clinic concludes with a walk-trot polo scrimmage.

Stay for a catered lunch and watch a polo game!

Riders are required to wear boots or sturdy shoes with a heel, and a helmet for all mounted instruction. No spurs, please. Bring your own helmet if you have one. Some riding helmets and all other polo equipment are provided. Bring tennis shoes for the foot mallet polo session.
